soundblaster live value with digital out?

Yeah the newer ones come with a SPDIF out, but doesnt come with a SPDIF one like the old ones that didnt have a digital out.
You check it before you get it.

No.
original retail sb live value doesn't.

some variants of so-called sb live value oem have,
they're the one called "value 2 oem" or "digital oem".

<< also what color is the digital out plug? >>

yellow

<< so does that mean i can record to device with digital in? >>

the card does have a line in at the rear but I don't think it's digital. someone else will correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure! 😱

Actually..that reminds me. I have the Cambridge Soundworks DeskTop Theater 5.1 -- with a SoundBlaster Platinum! card. On the back of my Cambridge console, there's a plug for "Dolby Digital (AC-3) SPDIF IN".

I'd be very appreciative if somebody could: (1) Tell me exactly what using this plug is intended for (i.e. does it in anyway enhance sound?); and (2) Tell me what the cable is to use this..and where I can find it?

My thanks in advance.

is it the same size as you're other plug (regular audio)? If so, simply use your existing cable to connect the soundblaster digital out to the cambridge digital in... DO IT NOW!

YES IT ENHANCES SOUND!!!!

From the looks of it, the plugs are different. The plug on the Desktop Theater control box is a bit bigger (maybe a RCA jack?) -- while the plug on my soundcard is the "normal" (small) kind....

Egad! Pardon my ignorance - but other than calling-up Creative Labs, where can I find said plug?

And does SDPIF really make that much of a difference? I've had this rig for 2 years now--and have never used this port... Come to think of it, I don't recall any connectors like that with my Cambridge SoundWorks when I bought it.
