SoundBlaster Live Value problem

This problem is weird. See, I'm experiencing an extremely irritating hiss from the speakers using the SoundBlaster Live Value.

Without the drivers installed, the speakers produce no sound at all even when turned at full volume. But once i had the drivers installed, the infamous hiss arrives. The speakers are plugged into the green connector.

I've tried the CD drivers, the drivers from creative's website, both do nothing at all to change the situation. The hiss reappears once the drivers are installed.

Only way to get rid of the hiss is to either mute the main volume or turn off my speakers. Enabling digital out Only also gets rid of the hiss. But my speakers aren't able to use that.

So, anyone had this problem before? Care to share the fix?

I used to have thins problem in Win98 SE. I changed the pci slot I had it in and fixed it. Then I upgraded to Win2K and it started again so I just didn't install the drivers. Now the card works fine with no hiss or crackles and sounds awsome watching movies.

What about IRQ sharing?
Your system using ACPI for IRQ steering?
I switched between ACPI and Standard PC, and found out that Standard PC works alot better.
*shrug*

Hope you dont mind me butting in as it sounds like you have some sblive experience because I just bought one to replace an ensoniq I had. I uninstalled the ensoniq software & removed the device from device manager then installed. It booted up okay but had problems installing the software.
I rebooted & now windows wont load. Tried different slot, still no w98se load. So I went back to ensoniq now & need to know what to try next. Its a SBLive with the digital output value version.
