I tried this sound card in all possible configs. Still it is causing random freezups when using applications that are related to internet like ie, mirc, outlook. It is really weird. I tried replacing the network card 3c905 for a netgear card, trying different pci slots and slot configs recommended by abit kt7faq. Still the problem is the same. WHen I yanked sb live!value outta the system the problem dissapeared.
Since then my system was up for two two day periouds without any reboots.

Are there any decent sound cards that would not have the same problem but still would be as good as sblive? I can afford spending like 40-50$ on it?Or are there any drivers that I can download that would fix my probs.

I've got an almost identical set-up in one of my systems with no problems whatsoever. I have my SBL in slot 4 and only load the updated drivers off the Creative site. It will work! Do you P&P off in bios? Also, let the ACPI do the IRQ routing, I do on that system and it works great, stable as hell, no problems! Actually I have three KT7's with SBL's (different config. in the other two) all with no conflicts or problems! Does it have the problem without the 3Comm nic? I don't use 3Comm but do know that they had issues with the KA7's.

I agree. It should work.

Try what ToBeMe says, but one thing I have to ask...

"How do we know the SB Live! is good?"

Was it in another machine prior to this and working fine? If the card is new, who knows, you could just have a defective one.

Again; it should work.

the card is not new. It worked just fine in my K7M and A7V. I tried a dlink nic but it didn't work.

Here's my take.....have you started from scratch yet? I mean rip everything out but the video card, reinstall Windows (or whatever) then add each card seperately and see what happens? Personally I'd try everything I could before giving up on the SBL!

where is the emulation going? is it sharing with the printer or causing a conflict somewhere else? Perhaps try setting irq 5 to icu/legacy so it will make a home there.

I will try it out. I have disabled all the stuff that I don't use like serial ports and now I have plenty of irqs. NIC in PCI 3 and sblive in pci 4 seems to work best, but still with the same type of crashes. I will try that thing out right away. Thanks dude.
