soundblaster live sounds worse after windows reinstall

I've got an original sblive value, I did a reinstall of Windows 98 yesterday on my machine and now for some reason it doesn't sound nearly as good as it did before. It doesn't necessarily sound "bad," it just sounds like lower quality (in everything, winamp, games, etc). I used the drivers from the sb site, I don't know if those were the same ones that I was using, but either way they're the only ones I could find. Anyway, I've messed with every setting I could find to try and get it to sound better with no luck. Any suggestions? Something's different, but I have no idea what's wrong. 🙁

It's been a while since I've use win98 but if you go to the control panel and then Multimedia you should have somewhere two 'Advanced' button under Sound Playback and Sound Recording. When you click on the advanced button there should be a Performance tab with sliders. Make sure they're all the way to the right (towards best).
