are there any hardware differences between the sblive value, mp3, & x-gamer cards? i know they come with different software packages.... is that the only difference?
All of the third generation SBLive cards (essentially the 5.1 cards) are identical with the exception of the software in the packages.
There are minor differences with the 2nd generation SBLive MP3+/Gamer with the Value, where the Value is missing the CDROM Digital SPDIF, and one or two other small things. Again, software is the main differentiating factor.
cool beans. thanx for the info i just realized that i bought a sblive value a few months back off fs/ft... it turns out that it is a sblive x-gamer (minus the software)
1st gen - sb live, sb live value, oem cards don't have digital cd-in connector.
2nd gen - sb live mp3+, x-gamer, platinum - added spdif out jack on the card, all gold plated jacks for retail cards, plastic jacks for oem cards.
3rd gen - sb live mp3+ 5.1, x-gamer 5.1, platinum 5.1 - added 3rd analog jack on the card.
old wine in new bottle, the 1st gen sb live is already 3 years old, boring.
