I dont know if this is a good deal or not, but CompUSA (of all places) is selling the soundblaster live platnium, the old one not the 5.1 for $99.

how much did/does the philips retail for otherwise?

the platnium was a $200 package and now it's $100 which isn't bad... now here's a trick go to an igornant cashier and try to convince then the live 5.1 version is what's for $100. ;)

Its cheap because its the 64 voice model and not the 1024 voice like the new Platinum and X-Gamer ect..

stso, I'm not sure who you talked to, but I got this deal from Staples at around 2:00 CST. My brother also ended up doing it, since we have 2 systems. I think it's a nice deal - great sound card setup for $85 shipped. Anyway, maybe they're sold out, but we did it earlier. Of course, we're in Dallas, not sure if that makes any difference, but just thought I'd let you know. Thanks xyyz.

zombie4rave, CompUSA is dumb. There is no difference between this and any other Live! cards.
See here. The only diff between this and the Plat 5.1 is DD 5.1 decoding and the IR Live Drive.(Well, and the software, as is the case with all of the Live! cards.)

They all use the same 10K1 processor.

Oh yeah, and remember that Staples stock is based on different Ingram Micro warehouses, so YMMV.
