soundblaster live: no sound from rear out?

i just reinstalled windows98 and i usually have my speakers connected to the line out jack, and my headset to the rear out jack. for some reason, i am not getting any sound ouput to my headset. i installed the drivers from the cd's that came with my sblive. does anyone have any idea why this is happening? it worked before, but after the OS reinstall, the rear line out no longer works. strange...

Go to Control Panel/Multimedia/Audio/Advanced Properties and make sure it isn't set for desktop speakers.

Is hardware mangler correctly recognizing the card? Is it conflicted? Try unistalling the soundcard. Reboot. Reinstall with the drivers. Should work.-+

haha... i'm pretty sure the device "mangler" checks out fine. no conflicts or anything unusual.
