Soundblaster Live! MP3+ : EAX Problem in Games

My problem is not that it doesnt work, but it just doesnt sound right.

In pretty much all my games (CS, Max Payne etc.) EAX makes the gunshot sound & things directly in front of me really quiet, while everything around me is like 200% louder. I've been fooling around with th EAX control panel, with no luck at all. Does anyone have any environment presets for the Soundblaster Live! series that would fix this?
 
Because Creative sucks, sorry. They don't even know how to make working drivers for EAX.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you must be running WIndows 2000, that's the only way I've heard of your problem (and experienced it myself)

Are vocals washed out in games too?

I'd suggest getting a new card. You can probably get some sucker on egay to buy your card for more than a Santa Cruz is costing nowadays.
