Here is how you do it. Call staples to pricematch buy.com for $83.95 and use staples coupon ($25 off $75). The Staples item# is 443649 and buy is 10207290. Staples web site will show out of stock on this item, call their customer service number 1-800-378-2753 to make the order.

Here is the break down...

--------------------------
89.69 total
--------------------------
-25.00 staples coupon

Does staple carry this item? All it shows is the original SB live MP3 which is marked as 76.49 which btw is out of stock.( I tried ordering 3 time during last two weeks)

Ah ha.... so Staples does tack on the shipping charges for their PM. And then if applicable, tacks on theirs as well. :|

Dang! I *JUST* did the $54 X-Gamer without 5.1. Don't need 5.1, but for only $15 more, wish I had waited.

Guys,

I have soundblaster Live! value edition.

Will 5.1 give me noticeably better quality sound (for MP3's & games)?

I noticed quite a difference in sound quality when I moved up from an AWE 64. Will I be dissapointed?

As far as the MP3 designation, isn't that just the bundled software that comes with it?

Thanks for the link Frglss,

Looks like the only diff between new/old is that the new 5.1's have Dolby digital decoding.

CompUSA had the old Soundblaster live! platinums on sale last week for $99. They were sold out when I got there.

There are no games bundled with the MP3 version, I think I go for the X-Gamer or maybe Platinum - both of them not on Staples site.

Nexialist,
They were sold out at your store? I went by local CompUSA on Tuesday and they had about 10-15 still sitting on the shelf! I was only marginally tempted :)

It doesn't have built-in dolby decoding, it's just ready for 5.1 (many hardware reviews say so) because it has 6 channels output. If you use powerdvd or windvd 5.1 version, with 5.1 speakers set, you'll get dolby digital 5.1 effects for watching dvd.

does this Xgamer card has Digital Din o/p? Which SBL card has Digital Din o/p? Can it connect to my DTT2500 speaker system?
