Has anyone else had the problem of electrical popping noises and white noise at start-up? And even WORSE THAN THAT, when I'm playing Quake III, the rocket explosion sounds are all DISTORTION. Sounds like S--t on my speakers. I have the SB-Live 5.1 MP3+, and ......

Asus CUSL-2
SB-LIVE MP3+ 5.1 sound card
Cambridge Acoustics satellites (2) with a subwoofer.
Pentium III-550E @ 733
256 MB of PC133
WD 205BB Hard Drive
Plextor 12x10x32A
Toshiba SD1402 DVD Player
Iomega Zip 250 Internal

I just upgraded from a SB PCI-128 and never had this problem with that card. I don't have any IRQ conflicts that I can see. And I've tried disabling the Creative SB16 emulation. Any suggestions? I realize my speakers aren't the best, but I'm not pushing them hard at all. I get the distortion noises at even the lowest volumes in Quake III, especially those Rocket Blasts! Those really sound like crap!

Did you make sure you muted the micr. That popping noise could be that the card is kinda lose!

Yeah, I thought of that too. And the mic is muted. I even tried unplugging the mic altogether. I've tried IRQ reserving. The only thing I haven't tried is buying new speakers, b/c I didn't have this problem with my SB PCI128.
