Ok I just picked up my new 900 Thunderbird yesterday Yeah! First thing I did was install my sound and network cards. First I installed the sound card and made sure it worked ok. No problems so far, After the system rebooted it worked great. I then brought down the system and installed my network card. Brought the system back up. Heard a few beeps and now the sound card does not seems to work anymore. I went and looked to see if there were any system conflicts but none seem to be present. Any suggestions.

PCI sound cards and NICs tend to like fighting over (or sharing) IRQ 9 or 11. Although in most cases they'll cooperate, it might not like to work in your situation. Access your BIOS and try forcing an IRQ on a specific card. Which OS are you running anyway?

Also, try installing the sound card on a different motherboard. I really doubt that you fried your Live!.

My NIC and Soundblaster played just fine in my old Pentium 166 (Ok stop laughing) runninq Win 95. Only had the problem with the new system.

My new system is running Win 98 SE. Stupid question. How do I access the BIOS and assign a specific IRQ to each of these cards?
