Soundblaster Live! and VIA Chipsets

Has anyone else suffered from a "crackling" noise coming from the Soundblaster Live! card when combined with a VIA chipset? I have read a few things on the SB newsgroup that suggests others are having this problem, but no one seems to have a clue on how to fix it. I have changed the PCI slots that it is in, and that does nothing. Can someone help!!???

On my system it had somethimg to do with the way the drivers were installed. If I installed the dos drivers and disabled them through System Tools/System Information/Tools/System Configuration Utility, then I got loud pops. After uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them (including the DOS drivers), no more pops.
