I'm sick of getting bsod's in WoW that reference the my creative drivers. I've tried the newest official beta drivers, but I'm still getting random bsod's. Someone pointed me to the kX Audio Drivers, but I wanted to come here first and ask you guys what you thought of these...Anyone use them? What's the quality like? What's the game performance like?

Thx

Same... I might investigate your problem a little more to see if there is something else you can do .

Try reformatting your computer, and never reinstall/uninstall ANY creative drivers, or update them for that matter, it all creates more problems than it solves. Trust me, because I have had anything from a SB Live 5.1 to an Audigy 2, and I have found the best performance by installing the drivers from the CD, and LEAVE IT ALONE.

KX are not suitable for games due to dodgey DirectSound3D (and lack of full EAX) and if not gaming then you have a costlier card than you need and if into professional recording then something less than ideal too.

Quick search... Asus good... VIA questionable... but that's not to say that the problem cannot be overcome, assuming it is incorrectly installed now.

Got the latest BIOS?

Instead of randomly trying slots, refer to the mobo manual to find an unshared slot and then confirm from within CMOS Setup and the boot screen.

There are gajillions of Audigy cards in use with no problems so looking for a solution to incorrect installation or configuration to come from third-party hobbyist drivers is madness.

If it is correctly installed then focus on the configuration. Personally, I have not had a problem with various Intel chipset mobo's, Live's and Audigy's. Still, I recommend installing the minimum required software: AudioHQ, Mixer, EAX Console, Speaker Settings, Diagnostics, making sure they and the drivers are updated and in the correct order and removing the unnecessary schtuff from the registry startup:
updreg
asioreg
cthelper (especially if not using WinDVD)
sbdrvdet (if not using front-panel bay)

Good luck!

Ditto. I have had nothing but problems with updating Creative drivers. Now I just install them once and leave them alone. So far so good.
