i have the Sound blaster audigy 2 and while playing FarCry with EAX enabled i dont hear anything but my characters gun...conversely with it off, everything is normal....toggling it on and off is a pain in the ass with FC since you have to restart the game...anyways..running xp pro with all the latest drivers from the creative website on a p4 3.2 512ram speakers are a logitech 4.1 set....i dont see what the problem could be
anyhelp would be appreciated

or is this more of a software question?

not in control panel - but in the thx settings that came with the audigy software

edit : lol whoa didn't read the thread - umm don't know about the weird noise - i thought you weren't hearing anything out of our rear speakers

yeah i meant the thx control panel calam..as far i as know thats the only program that allows you to configure them i think...anyways i am hearing my characters guns and in-game music but nothing whatsoever else with EAX on and i dont know why

The next thing that I would do is reinstall the Creative drivers and updates in chronological order, restarting between driver updates, but not between app updates.

thats exactly what i did the first time..creative drivers ask you to restart after their installation anyways....driver 1 install restart...driver 2 update install restart....apps i think 3-4 i chose and one final restart

thanks for the help

I have the same problem with my audigy card. I have to switch off my enviromental effects to get certain sounds in games and switch it back on when listening to music. A real pain in the you know what...

I ran into this, and it's an easy fix. Leave the Audigy2 settings alone, and go into the game sound menu. Select "Dolby 5.1" and uncheck all the checkboxes except for "play music", if you want music in the game.

Edit: I just remembered you said you're using 4.1. I would select the appropriate setting for 4.1, quad or surround, then uncheck those boxes.

I'm glad you asked me that, because it made me try setting (in game options) the speakers to "surround", and checking the "hardware mixing" and "EAX 2.0" boxes. It has much better sound and positional effects. Apparently, it wasn't doing much postional stuff when set to "Dolby 5.1". If I turn on EAX 2.0 with speakers set to "Dolby 5.1" (still talking about the game options), I get the problem of only hearing my gun.

With my audigy 2 oem it is the same, I have to disable cmss for it to work in far cry, only game I have played with that problem. Great game otherwise.

it seems the problem was the thx console.i uninstalled all apps and drivers and then only installed drivers..it seems to have fixed the issue
