I'm currently using the SoundBlaster Live 5.1 mp3 soundcard and of course, this set is a 4.1 speaker system. My question is this: How the hell do I get all 4 speakers to work? I've tried just about every combination hooking the green/purple plugs (from the Klipsch 4.1) into the soundcard. HELP!!!!!

There's definitely power going to the *silent speaker, but no audio response! I'm thinking it's not a defective speaker due to the fact that the speaker is receiving power. To reiterate, I'm curious to know where to plug the cables (from Klipsch 4.1) into the soundcard (Soundblaster Live 5.1 mp3)? This question will probably be answered best by someone who owns this set of speakers being run with this soundcard.

Any info is appreciated. THX

Holy multiple double post! ;) :)

Anyway, have you selected 4.1 speakers in your control panel? It's in Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/Speaker Settings/Advanced, select Surround Sound or 4.1 Speakers. Also check AudioHQ(Creative utility)/Speakers/Surround Mixer, select 4.1.

I didn't install the drivers (or extra progs) that came w/ my soundcard so I don't have the Audio HQ option. I recently reformatted my HD and found that I didn't have to install any drivers as XP reads the soundcard fine. When I first setup the speakers I went to the Sound, etc. tab in the Control Panel and set the speakers to Quadrophonic. I'll try setting it to surround (or 4.1) like you suggested SANDORSKI. I'll come back w/ some more info later. THX

Tried setting Sound preferences to Quadrophonic, Surround, and 5.1. No luck with the other rear speaker, still silent. Any info?

EDIT: Problem fixed!

You might have to install the Creative software, I'd try that first.

At any rate here is how the speakers should be setup:

Assuming the PCI slot connection is the "bottom" of the card

1) Front speakers connect to 2nd RCA jack from the bottom
2) Rear speakers connect to bottom RCA jack
3) Sub connects to top jack...the Digital out jack. The RCA cable works fine in this jack, it is dual use.
