why do they need to limit the sound anyway ?
My first DVD ever was The Matrix, and I was close to never buying another DVD again; the sound balance on that was awful in my opinion. Accurate maybe, but I don't need that for movie-watching. Speech was almost inaudible, and explosions sounded like they were right there in the room. I can SEE the explosion; I don't need the entire room to get blown apart by the speakers. Subtitles make the movie watchable. That, or maybe I'll have to rip the movie to the hard drive, use Goldwave to normalize and tweak the sound, then rerender it and put it back on a DVD.You can probably blame the wide dynamic range of movie soundtracks, where quiet sounds are really quiet, and loud sounds are really loud.
