Sound treatment foam?

If I lined an entire room with sound treatment foam except the carpet, would I be severly limiting how much sound left the room? The lower frequencies I can understand would be harder, but the mid's and high's, would this help?

I'm looking at blocking out as much as possible at around 80 dB inside the room, don't want to bug those outside of it.

Any advice/thoughts? I'm looking at some fire retardant foam that is abou 1.5" thick.

Also, this would be for a room around 11x12 or 11x13 with 8 or 9 foot ceilings, not sure yet.
