Building a new rig. I'm going with the Giga-Byte GA-8KNXP motherboard, and a P4 3.2C GHz.
For my sound system, I'm only concerned with music playback. You know, popping a CD into the drive while I'm doing work in my home office.
I'm looking at the Logitech Z-5300 speaker system, and the Terratec Aureon 5.1 Sky soundcard.
Opinions and comments......

You could probably do just as well with a Creative Labs solution and save some money on the sound card. The Audigy, Audigy 2, or Audigy ZS would be great choices for those speakers....which BTW look awesome.

Those speakers do look nice. Don't know much about that sound card though, sorry. On a similar note I tried to look at speakers in Best Buy last night and my girlfriend wouldn't let me. She kept saying something about "NO! Somebody could have bought you some for Christmas! NOOO!" and herding me away. I wasn't gonna buy them I just wanted to listen and see how they sounded! GEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

I keep getting mixed reviews on Creative Labs cards. Everything from they are excellent, to they are the worst POS on the market. I'm leary at this point.

Yeah right... if you got a chick who knows enough to buy you geekware for xmas, she's a keeper! My last one just kept buying me clothes and trying to make me look like a metrosexual. She was one of those that needed to be ditched! ;)

You got that right! My gf knows what I like and buys gifts I really appreciate. :)

Have you looked the M-Audio revolution? Many reviews have stated it's the card to have for music listeners.

I have had Creative Cards from the Sound Blaster 16 all the way up to the Audigy ZS....they are great cards and I have never had an issue with them at all. Some people had problems early on with the Sound Blaster Live! series, but I have run into very few people who have had issues since then. I have used other cards and found them to be lacking in software/driver support...I like the Audigy ZS, it's a good card with great sound and a lot of features. For what your needs sound like, I believe the Audigy ZS would be the way to go.
