Sound sync problems with DVD playback

Ive tried a few movies now and the sound always seems to be just a bit ahead of the picture.
It gets really annoying when lips don't match what they are saying :/

Im using WinDVD 2.3 now but have tried AsusDVD 2000 (Power DVD I believe, at least that's what the error box said : )) with same results.

PC: 1Ghz Tbird, 256meg ram, Asus Gforce 2 and *cough* Creative 12x DVD drive.

Could it be the drive, Im thinking its more likely a config thing (well, hoping)? Could it make a difference using spdif cable as I dont have one connected at the mo?
