My PC Chips m830l (apparently the same as ECS k7s5a) motherboard is making terrible static when windows XP starts. As the computer stays on, the static gets quieter over a few minutes until it's possible to actually listen to the sound without pain.
The on-board sound is recognized as "sis 7012" sound controller by XP. If i "uninstall" the hardware in XP, the static stops immediately.
I have tried:
- reinstalling XP
- updating the BIOS with both m830l & k7s5a bioses
- updating drivers with any I can find on pcchips & ecs web sites
- moving my NIC (the only other PCI card in my system) to different slots
Nothing helps, does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
