can they only be made by a user, or is there some magic bank of them online? I'm diggin pidgin's on/off tones and wonder if anyone has made a system sound scheme based around them... or if I'll give up on the thought due to having to apply my own time to creating such a scheme
 
I never looked. I sometimes change sounds for specific events, but I've never used a whole sound pack. I suspect most of them suck in one way or another anyhow. You'd probably have to spend time tweaking the sounds with a pack, so you might as well build it from scratch.
