The topic of sound

Found this over on Tom's. Its a good read for all of you who have been asking about sound quality of Soundstrom. This should clear up most of your questions.

I would have liked to see, however, a mark for actual/current implementations of Soundstorm. But you get an idea of what the nForce2 is capable of.

Yea I read that this morning. But the review shows the processing power of the individual solutions, but doesn't tell you the quality. I know for a fact that Audigy is the best solution out there. Its ability the render precisely is better than that of Soundstorm and the others. As a matter of fact I was a tremendous instagib Quake player, one the many skills nececssary to hunt the opponent is with sound. So while it does show the processing power it doesn't begin to show the quality.

Yeah, but if you read at the end of the article, they say that b/c the nForce2 is being implemented with one of the C-media or Realtek chips that there is a hit. So what I'm wondering is what is the true potential of the MCP-T, and how would it need to be implemented to acheive what the benchmarks show it can.
