Sound recording problem

Lifer
I spent around a week rebuilding my old box with an eye to using it to auto-record some radio programs. Everything's pretty set up but I'm having a problem. The recording I made last night was only left channel.

It's a Win95 OSR2 box and I set the source, volume and balance recording properties in Win95's Volume Control, but when I reboot the computer the balance control has slid all the way over to the left! Can anyone suggest a solution or reason why this is happening? The Win95 volume control is sndvol32.exe. Where does it get its settings? Thanks.

Dan

Some additional specs:

Soundman Wave ISA sound card with the latest Win95 driver

Total Recorder 3.4 recording program set up to record an MP3 from the line-in of the sound card.

After you have everything set as you need, make sure you close the sound dialog. The settings are saved only when you close the sound dialog. Are you doing that?

I tried it both ways many times. Makes no difference. I wonder where the settings are stored. I figure the registry but I can't find them.

This program will let you monitor the registry for any changes. Be aware that you may see a lot of registry accesses while you move the sliders around. Also, the sound program is nothing special - it is just a simple application and makes requests to the OS just like any other app would. So the registry changes will be made by the OS, and not the program directly.
