sound recorder says it's already recording, it's not

Whenever I try to record anything with sound recorder or any other recording application, I get this message: "Another applicatin is recording audio. Stop recording with this other application and then try and record with sound recorder again." No other applications are running other than the basic windows applications. Can anyone help? Thank so much.

Um, try to update your sound card drivers, that worked for me back in the day when i had that problem--also make sure that in your sound settings (in control panel) taht you have the proper card set for recording

Need a little more info.

1. What Operating System are you using?
2. What Audio card is installed.
3. Do you have either Office 2000 or Office XP installed?
