Sound quality in WindowsXP ??

Hey all, I recently put WindowsXP on my box, and I'm having a *huge* problem with sound quality. I'm using the same SB Live! value card and Altec-Lansing ADA-305 speakers I used in win98/win2k with no problems, and the drivers I'm using came from the Windows Update site. The quality goes downhill in response to increased CPU load, which with a 1050MHz setup shouldn't seem like it'd be a problem. Any ideas? Thanks in advance,

I have almost the same setup with ya. SBLive Value and the ADA305. I used the default drivers from XP (didn't update) and everything seemed to be in order? Does it have problems before you do a windows update? Have you tried the dirvers from the Creative site?
