Sound Proofing a room questions.

I'm serious here!
My computer room is 15x9 w/2 windows.

The walls are not too bad and I wanted to just patch/paint them, but I was thinking of soundproof type foam.

Questions----
1--- Is this viable for the size of the room? Does it matter?
2--- Application? How to?
3--- Cost?
4--- Suggestions?

I would use accostical wall panels to absorb sound echoes for a bigger room. For smaller rooms, you may want to use just soundproof foam. The use of this stuff may vary on the type of room you're in.

But before doing these things, try using a sound decibel checker to see if it detects any sound echoes coming in from the inside or outside. That may determine whether or not sound accostics are needed to filter out the unwanted noise.

Exactly what noise are you trying to silence? Power supply fans, CPU fans, hard drives or what? Unless you have a ton of computers, or some really loud fans, I can't imagine the sound bleeding through ordinary walls. It may be cheaper to invest in some lower dB components. Any good sound dampening material will cost way more than you'd probably want to spend and would seem like overkill.
