i got a room that sometimes i sleep in but it's in between 2 other rooms that family members make a lot of noise... shutting the door doesnt help, i also hear sounds coming through the drywall walls...

can i buy a couple of sheets of something from this site and lay it somewhere in my room and it would help absorb sound?

This stuff Text would work, but would have to be applied to both side to really be effective.
Better would be to add an extra layer of sheetrock (drywall) to each side. It should be glued and screwed to really work.
The rule of thumb.... Double the mass, halve the sound transmission.

crap i should have considered this when the contractor drywalled the rooms... i also didnt insist on him putting insulation between the studs of the walls that divide each of the three rooms... I had read that even that can help isolate noise.
