Sound Problems on Old TV

Hi, I figured the tech Gods of this forum would be able to help out here.

I have an old TV (model: JCV AV-32D501), and since TV channels are now all HD, you need a signal converter to watch HD TV on an analog. My signal converter is an Access HD DTA 1030.

Now, the thing is that there's this weird buzzing sound whenever I watch TV. My first guess was that this could be solved by using different cables or something, but I don't know how to get that working. I also checked around the 'net and supposedly this could be a problem with the TV/TV channels not supporting Dolby sound or something.

Halp! I really want to avoid having to plunk down $500+ for an HDTV (it would be a useless purchase for my needs). This one's still got life left!

The converter actually converts digital signals to analog. HD is digital but not all digital tv signals are boardcast in HD.

As for the buzzing noise does it go away if you play something from a dvd player? If the buzzing is still there then it's the tv. If it goes away then it's the converter. If it's the converter you have two methods for connection. 1) coax - single cable about the thickness of your pinky finger. 2) composite - 3 RCA type cable that's probably colored yellow, white and red. Not sure what method you're using right now but try one or the other. If you're still getting buzzing through both methods then you got a bad converter.
