Sound Problem

Can anyone help with my sound problem

I have the SB Live card running on a AMD based system. Everythink has been fine until just a while back when every now and then this a crackling noise every so often.

I have tried different cables and speakers but still get the problem. it is most noticeable when i playing Mp3s. although it only happens rarely. i have also tried disabling programs running but this has had no effect.

Can anyone give any help on other causes for this.

Do you get the static in other applications as well (ie: games, movies, etc)? Also, have you tried to update your drivers to the latest version (never hurts to try)?

I have tried other applications and it is still present. it even occasionally does it when their is no sound being played.

I have also updated the drivers with no difference
