It just suddenly started being jerky. When watching anime, I hardly hear the characters talking because the volume is super low and there's some sort of static sound.

It's the same with music. Seems I hear the background fine but I'm having a lot of trouble hearing the singing.

Could it be my headphones failing?

I'll try to post more info and I'm using the latest drivers from the Asus website (or so I think).

Yes i think i know what you're talking about, 9/10 time it was my headphone failing. The other times it was because the plug was loose. Try using a different headphone and see if you different results.

Sound seems fine on the speakers I just used. Can't put the volume really high cause some people are sleeping but it sounds a lot better than the headphones. :s

Can anyone suggest nice headphones/speakers to use with the A8N-Sli onboard sound?

Altec Lansing XA3021

I use the sub to distribute high quality base, the speakers sound extremely nice compared to other more expensive brands. It produces music like it's from digital audio. Very flat and clean. You'll be surprized that a hundred dollar speaker set wouldn't sound as good as this stuff.
Currently I just use the XA3021 sub, because the BASS controlls it offers are far more superior than my RCA 5.1 Home Theater system (connected also to Sony XPLOD car sub).
