Sound problem, please help !

my friend just got a p4 1.5 pc....the problem is every time the pc boots (into 98se)...there's this annoying pop (sound like a small explosion) sound...and it happened even after i shut down the pc...it has a sblive 5.1 in it...with altec lansing 305(usb)....i've check everything...it's plug in propperly....so what seems to be the problem ? oh...the sound card is running ok i think....when i try to play audio CD and MP3...it sound just ok...nothing unusual....
 
this may sound really dumb, but the sound blaster cards sometimes play a sound, often an explosion wav file, upon booting windows successfully.

go start-->settings-->control panels-->sounds and multimedia
to see if there's such a file that windows defaults to when it boots.

please dont get mistaken...i'm using a sblive value myself..i never encountered this sort of problem before...
and the explosion sound is not that one that sound like lightning or thunder...i know that is what u get after u install live ware....i'm not sure if that will work...but i will try it out later ...thanks 🙂
