Sound problem in XP

Anyone have a suggestion of what I can do about a sound problem I am having? Here is the deal: I have an ATI TV Wonder VE and Windows XP Professional with a Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer 5.1 sound card. The problem is I cannot hear the sound when I am watching TV, well I should say I can hear the sound if i crank my manual volume up all the way (not to mention the main Windows sound is turned up all the way). The sound works for everything else except for the TV, why? What can I do? I have updated the ATI drivers to most current, plus sound card drivers to the most recent level. Not sure if this would help, but I used to have 98SE (until a few days ago) and the sound when watching TV was fine. I did a complete install of XP (formatted my HD and then installed. It is not an upgrade)

Anyway, thanks for any help.

Your problem sounds very similar to mine. I'm running a P-4 maching with XPpro and 98se dual booted. (see rig for details).

Anyway, I recently ran Windows Update under XPpro, and it recommended I update the driver for my SB Live. I did, and everything seemed fine at first, until I noticed some sounds (T.V., streaming audio) wouldn't play through my rear speaker output. I rolled back the drivers (not sure if you can do that with XPhome), and everything was fine.

For your info the drivers are release date: 11/2/2001 rev. 3509.2.0.0

I see your running XPpro, so rolling back should fix your problem.

Hope this helps. 🙂
