Sound Problem in CS

I have been experience a problem in cs lately that im relating to my sound card. It seems like whenever i get a lot of noise at once, like lots of guns shooting, or especially radio commands, the game lags up for a second and the sound goes all choppy. I'm running it on a p3 500 with 256 ram, a rage pro 128, and a turtle beach montego II sound card. Does anyone know what could be causing this, thanks.

It may be because your system is trying to process too many sounds at once, hence the slowdowns with a lot of sounds.

Make sure high quality sounds are not enabled. It is weird though, I would think that that sound card would play the sounds smooth as silk, even with that machine.

Does this happen in single player too? If not, then you might want to check for an IRQ conflict between your network and sound cards. That would explain why you get slowdowns during radio messages too.
