Sound prob w/new nvidia audio driver and desert combat

I was occasionally experiencing some fuzz and feedback accompanying voices and sounds in Desert Combat. So I installed the latest Nvidia drivers for my onboard sound (NF7-S .2). Now I cannot get any sound during gameplay of DC. In the options and loading screens I get sound, but when it comes to the actual gameplay I hear nothing. I've got direct x 9.0b and driver version 4.31. Should I not be using the latest Nvidia audio drivers?
