Question for someone.

I have a brand new Pioneer Elite vsx-50 receiver, so I am having to tinker around with learning some of these settings. I have not owned a Pioneer Elite receiver before.

I used to have the audio output via digital optial output from the TV to the receiver. This would allow sound via TV speakers AND through receiver speakers.

Now that I have connected all devices to the receiver instead and output via HDMI to TV(the proper way), the audio from the TV speakers is NOT being output. Why?

In our system in the main living room, this is not the case. The audio does play via TV speakers as well as through speakers from receiver.

Any input would be helpful. Is this a receiver setting somewhere, TV setting, what?

Because TV speakers are usually cheap and terrible. You're normally buying a system to replace them, not augment them.

I don't even know why you'd want to hear those tiny tinny speakers.

Check your receiver manual and see if it has an audio pass through option. It'll probably disable to the receiver's audio though. *shrug*

No, I understand. And, its for a 2.1 setup in a small room so, my intention was to leave the TV speakers sound on as kind of a, half-assed center speaker so to speak heh.

The issue I have is, I am coming from an older receiver in which I did still have sound from the TV and front speakers at the same time, and our "real" big system in living room also players sound from TV with the 7.1 setup. Its really more of a curiousity of why its not doing so with this one now, not so much "needing" it. :p

Its a fairly high end Pioneer Elite VSX-50(completely overkill for a small bedroom and 2.1 setup heh, but I got it for $200.....) so I am guessing it might have something to do with that.
