Sound out of sync with video using Dr. Divx

I have a few divx movies that are a bit too large to fit on a 700mb CD-R so in order to make them fit I have to re-encode them in Dr Divx for a 700mb file size. The thing is, some of them come out with the sound out of sync with the video. The original plays fine though. I have messed around with most of the encoding settings but it doesnt seem to help. I have read the instructions and there's really nothing about it either. it can't be my hardware not able to keep up with the encoding cause the majority of the files come out fine...just a few that's having problems.

i'm thinking it was how the original was first encoded but i dont know if it's the bit rate of the video or the specs of the mp3 audio part that's causing it. i remember one video with the audio orginally encoded in 48khz and i re-encoded into 44.1khz. i thought that was the problem but after doing it again but keeping it at 48khz, the audio was still out of sync.

any ideas on what could be causing this? i also have virtualdub but i can't figure out how to make a file of a certain size.
