Ok, my problem is kinda unique, here...
I was in the middle of replaying Half Life 2 again when my sound just kinda... died. Now, I assumed it was just the game, so I quit. Then I noticed AIM wasn't giving any sound out. So now I'm thinking.... What could possibly go wrong with my sound to make this happen? I'm assuming that since HL2's sound doesn't work, neither will the sound from any of my other Steam games.
It might be drivers, but about a year ago my brother was bitching at me for having never updated anything but my graphics card since I've had this computer(2 years now.) Reason is, I didn't know HOW to update it, and when I asked him how, he called me an idiot and didn't help me. So I did it myself, and my sound was ok, but now since the latest Steam update, I'm thinking the way I updated my onboard sound kinda killed it over time, or something.
