sound not working in Vista

Not sure if I should post in the OS section or here but I have this mobo in a system:

It shows sound card as being installed and when I play music it seems fine but I get no sound. I tried headphones with and PC speakers. They are plugged into the right port and I checked to make sure nothing was muted. Any ideas what the problem could be?

ppl on newegg doesn't seem to be having any issues using it in Vista.
 
Have you done a windows update?

I had a similar problem on my secondary machine installing vista, and after I did a windows update, the driver worked properly and sound worked fine. It also had onboard realtek audio.
 
yeah but I didn't update everything yet. The ones I didn't update didn't list in the details about compatibility issues also no sound card updates was listed.
