Hi everyone,
I just been having this issue for a while now. I have searched and found issues but mine seems to be close but my configuration is a little different.
Computer works fine just doing the normal things (browse, music, videos, etc). When it comes to some games it will do the sound loop freeze then come back. I heard that the dualcore amd and nf4 issues. but my proc is a single so that isn't the issue. I have used the nvidia drivers and the dfi ones and no luck. I don't play games much so this isn't the end of the world for me, but once in a while I like to relieve some stress. Any suggestions?

Current rig:
3500+ (stock speed)
dfi lanparty UT nf4 ultra
1 gb cosair value
evga 6800gs OC version (stock speed)
1 pata 200gb recently reformatted
troubleshooting:
mem test for 20+ hours. passed
previous mobo ECS K8T590-A. wasn't the greatest but played games fine.
tried using x800 in above rig. freezes
tried 3800+ x2 in above. freezes
disabled sound in bios and removed drivers. freezes
