Sound like a power supply problem?

Guys my PC has been restarting especially on cold boot a LOT. The other day it restarted 5 times before fully going into windows. I have pretty much narrowed it down to the pwr supply just wondered if anyone else had ever heard of a power supply causing such an issue. Thanks

Yeah, it sounds like a PS problem. I had a POS supply in my machine until a few weeks ago. Everytime I'd turn it on, it wouldn't do crap until I hit the reset button, then it'd boot. After I replaced the PS, it started with no problems. If you decide to replace the PS, just make sure that you buy enough wattage for your system. I think that was what my problem was. Good luck!

quality is more important than wattage. id rather have a quality 300 watt as opposed to a no-name 450 watt.

It is a quality unit, it is an Antec 400w. Just been nothing but problems the last six months and now its getting so bad my computer is virtually unusable the first 10 or so minutes its on.

This is exactly what happened to me when my power supply went sour. I had a spare generic, put it in and so far (month) it's OK.
