Sound like a bad MB?

When I built my gf's system in Oct of 2007, some of the USB ports in the MB didn't work. Too lazy to RMA it, we decided that we could deal with it.

For some reason, her computer refuses to boot up, like it won't even post sometimes now. We have to hard turn it off and on several times, and what's strange is that sometimes when we mash random buttons on a PS2 keyboard (USB doesn't work), only then will it finally start to post and boot up.

I've upgraded the powersupply (which wasn't bad even, I'm using it right now), so I don't think it's that.

The MB is an abit bought in 2007, I have no idea what kind of warranty would be on it since I bought it from clubit.com, which is now out of business :[

Can anyone suggest anything else before I buy a new mb, which would be a real pain to swap?

Also, can anyone suggest and inexpensive AM2+ mb? She has an AM2 5600 x2 CPU, so I was thinking of upgrading her CPU quarter4 of this year or q1 of 2010, whenever I can find a cheap deal around that time period.

For OCing, which I will do, I did see that this is a nicely recommended board, but it's out of stock. The price on it is pretty nice also, as I'm looking to spend under $100 if possible.

Thanks for any comments on the MB or suggestions on a new purchase :)
