Sound levels on a GF4 Ti 4200...

I have a MSI GeForce4 Titanium 4200 video card. Only problem (you might have noticed my anti-computer noise posts plauging the forums today), how loud are they? And if they are loud would it be worth to buy a Zalman Passive GPU cooler for $40?

Thanks!

"Loud" is very subjective, and also dependant on user specific variables (i.e. case, PC placement, desk arrangement, etc...)

So, I'm not sure that someone else can answer the question for you. You'll just have to try it and see what you think.

I would put in a passively cooled card for the sake of comparison. My GF4 is out for RMA, I am currently using a fanless GF2MX and I think I will order a Zalman when the GF4 comes home again. There is a noticable difference in noise. You could even just disconnect the fan for a single boot-up rather than swap cards.

Thanks for the advice! I think ill try that if my new Zalman fan dosent make the system quieter.

I have a Ti4200 and it doesn't seem noisy at all to me. Maybe that's just me but I notice no sound from it. Mine is AOpen btw.
