Sound issues on new Toshiba Satellite laptop? :S

Hi guys,

I bought a brand new Toshiba Satellite P105-S6014 laptop. Cost me $1225.

I love it, apart from the sound abilities...

Sound on the normal speakers is ok, doesnt go too loud, but then again they are tiny speakers.

My main grip is with the line out and headphone ports. The line out doesn't give any output to anything i connect, headphones, speakers, etc. I have a Creative 2.1 inspire speaker setup, which I have to run in analog mode (because laptop doesn't have digital output!) and it doesn't run from the line out port, but only from headphone port, and I notice a slightly poorer quality as a result!

Then when I plug in my hifi headphones in the headphone port, they dont really go that loud either 🙁

Is this an issue with all laptops?? This is the first laptop i've ever had btw.

A advice most welcome guys.

Hi, Line out is 600 Ohms to drive amplifed devices. Headphones and speakers etc. are usually 8 Ohms. Would have been driven by the SPEAKER out put on older sound cards. Modern sound cards do not have Speaker Output.
Good Luck, Jim
