Sound issues in Doom3 engine games...

Chronicles of riddick now does the same thing that doom3 used to do...crackling sound! especially when the system is taxed. EDIT: ok so CoR doesnt use the doom3 engine? same issue though...blah

I have a santa cruz turtle beach,
a643800+,
a x1900xt
and 2gb of ram.

Latest drivers throughout...perhaps i need a newer sound card? Like a x-fi or at least and audigy 2?

XP? Onboard? What is your mobo? Using RAID? If so ? what controller/driver? What sort of sound? During output/constantly on the background/during HDD use?

XP media edition, but it happened with 2k too. Mobo is an asus a5n8x, no raid - ata drive. I'd say the sound is like a crackle/skip. It's not constant, but fairly frequent and not only during hdd use that i'm aware of. With 2gb of ram i shouldnt be using the hdd much i thought? maybe i'm wrong though, heh 🙂

okay, i totally forgot about those. Even though the sound card is pci, the chipset audio driver affects it?

Your board is a8n5x ? sound is integrated (that is how i understand your a5n8x)

If you mean that you have 3rd party PCI sound card then obviously no. In that case post model/mfr/check for IRQ conflicts/reassign them or just move it into a different PCI.
