I get periodic(3-4 times a week), severe lag in several FPS games which makes them unplayable. The rest of the time everything is fine.
When it happens I know immediately, as I join the game server, the sound stutters and there is much static. Could the sound stuttering be the cause of the severe lag, or just another symptom of the problem?
My system:
Asus P5B MB w/ latest bios / E8400 oc'd to 3.6ghz / nVidia GTX-280 with latest drivers
4 gig G Skill memory / Intel 160gig SSD / Creative X-Fi Music sound card w/ 6.0.1.1373 drivers(6/3/09) / Logitech usb G35 Headset / Win 7- 64 bit OS / Cox Cable Internet connection (22Down/4Up) and '50' ping to the game server in Chicago from Rhode Island / D-Link DIR-655 router / Use 'TeamSpeak3' for clan chat program / Games are port-forwarded in router but not TeamSpeak3
I turn off Anti-Virus prog, and run 'CCleaner' and 'GameBooster' before playing. There are about @ 30 processes running in Task Mngr. There are no viruses, etc in the system.
Thx for any help/ideas...
