Sound Issue

I came up to school and my computer's sound started not working (onboard sound from a soltek drv4). I just thought something got shuffled off and went out and got a soundblaster 16 card. It had both the black and green hookup wires for my 4.1 system (which my soltek board lacked) so i wasn't really that errked with the purchase. I take it home and install it and the damn thing doesn't work. I disabled the onboard card and go into my device listings and no yellow explamation points are to be found. I then was like hmm and went into control panel and hit up the sounds option and it says that no audio device are installed!??!? whats the deal with this. i have the card in there and the drivers are installed but xp can't use the card. I am using XP professional and a 1700+ XP
