Sound issue

Hi guys,
I have a DFI Lanparty nf3 250gb, which has onboard sound. The sound works in windows always and in games/videos at first. After a while the sound will stop working in games/videos, but will still work in windows (shutdown sound, error sound, etc). If I start running a game or a video and the sound works at the start it will carry on working until I exit the game/video. I don't get any error messages and this is driving me insane. I've tried reinstalling windows (although I never formatted) and it did not fix this problem. I've tried searching the web for answers but can't find any. Please any help would be much appriciated.

Thanks

Anyway, some Google usage showed that your motherboard has the Realtek ALC850 audio chip. It appears that some guys have had problems that seemed just like yours! Sound is there, then it's gone again. Also sometimes it might come back for a moment, then to disappear again. Some guys on various discussion forums talked about heat problems, others about hardware failure and someone even mentioned problems with BIOS and/or jumper settings (but I doubt the last one is for you).

Well, I don't know exactly, so I hereby give the job back to you! The tools are Google and these threads, plus maybe you've gotten something out of my post 😉
