You might want to think about the case and the power supply. Having a good one of each is important, especially power supply. And the GT is a pretty power hungry video card, so having a good, high-quality power supply is very important in this situation. Some good brands include Antec, Enermax, Tagan, OCZ, Fortron, PCP&C, but a lot of them will probably cost you at least 20 or 30 more bucks. This is the one I'm getting:

My friend has a pirated version of XP Pro that he's letting me borrow once I get my comp set up in a week or so. Just lettin ya know 😉

You might also want to check your pricing on the motherboard and CPU. With your mentioning of free Farcry, I assume you're shopping from monarchcomputer.com, and at their website the socket 754 Athlon 64 3000+ retail costs 169 bucks and that motherboard costs 139.

nope, im a newegg kinda guy . Thanks for the tips dude, highly appriciative.

A 6800 GT can run fine on a 400W, as long as it's quality--those stories probably come from people who own crappy generic PSUs. Definitely change the case--Raidmax is known to have shoddy build quality. I like my Antec case, the SLK3700AMB (granted, the included Antec 350W PSU might be fine for me only because I have just a 9600 vanilla, but it should hold, at least at stock speeds on everything with one hard drive and one optical). For the quality you get, it's still a good bargain even if you just sell the included power supply.

If you want to OC your processor, it might be better to see if you can get your hands on a 90nm S939 with a good NF3 board (or NF4 if you build around when those boards are out and prices stabilize; but of course only if you're interested in PCIe at this time).

I agree with ts3433. Everything is great, except replace your PSU and Case with an Antec SLK3700AMB (about $70 at Newegg). I would rather have a quality 350W PSU. And I've been running a X800XT on my Dell 400SCs 250W PSU for several months now, without an issue. Quality > Wattage.
