I am facing this weird problem with my system. Have a gigabyte X58A-UD5 motherboard, Core i7 920 and 6 x 2 GB DDR3-1066.
I have multiple hard drives one of which is dedicated for the hackintosh mac OS installation. Only when I boot off this hard drive, load the mac OS and then do any activity involving drive access do I hear some noise (sounds like hard drive but slightly louder) from near the CPU area. This sound is not coming from the hard drives. Also, the sound is synced to my mouse movement when I roll my mouse over the dock or if I load an application it sustains for sometime. I changed the drive to a different sata port and even disconnected all other drives in the system but the issue persisted. I booted windows of a RAID volume in the system and did file transfers to the mac drive and didn't find this problem.
Any ideas what might be happening here?
Thanks.
