Sound falling behind video in HD-DVD playback

My HTPC specs are in my sig below. I have one of the LG HD-DVD/Blu-ray players in it and have been noticing that during some movies the sound will get off the video. This also happens on some, specifically 1080p res, MKV files. I don't recall this ever happening with a 720p file which tells me that something is not keeping up with the demands of playback. I realize the cpu is rather old but shouldn't the 9600gso be able to handle the vid playback?

If it helps I'm using either media player classic (mkv files) or power DVD 7 (blu-ray and hd-dvd) as the software. Drivers for the gpu are recent nVidia, 182.xx I believe. I'm also planning on moving my unused E6550 setup into the HTPC for a core boost but not until Win 7 comes out and I have to do a re-install anyway.

Anyone have any suggestions for me to try?

Thanks!

Yes the reason the video and audio are out of since is do to a bit of lag in the video decoding. This is fairly common. A better CPU should help a bit since the data has to pass threw the CPU before its reaches the video card to be decoded.

So there is nothing I can enable in the nVidia drivers to help? Would the e6550 at stock be enough of an upgrade to overcome this? I don't want to buy additional hardware but can if I have to.

Thanks!
